How does America fit?

Modern day America, from the Mayflower Compact through today, follows the same pattern as Abraham's seed, from Isaac through Moses. May claim the destruction of America will come, but they don't know how. Many claim they have found America in prophecy, but it's all allegory. But if we're following the same pattern of events that the Seed of Abraham followed while they lived out a prophecy, that's truly significant.

The Criteria

Covenant

The Pilgrims wrote and signed a document called the Mayflower Compact. In it, they specifically state that in the presence of God they came into covenant, for the Glory of God, and for the advancement of the Christian faith.

Sojourners

The land this nation is built on was stolen from other people. To be Biblically aligned, theft must eventually be repaid with recompense. For the portions of the land that were bought rather than stolen, no land in the Bible is ever permanently bought. It's more like a lease, as eventually the land is returned to the original owner. So by Biblical definition, the citizens of this nation are sojourners here, whether we think we own the land or not.

Oppression and Affliction

Many of the citizens of this nation have ancestors that were oppressed and afflicted. Aside from the obvious in the slave trade before the Civil War, the Chinese workers who built the railroads were treated little better than slaves. The Irish were refused work after they fled here from the great Potato Famine. The Japanese were imprisoned in concentration camps during WWII. Before the Revolutionary War the people were oppressed by the British Crown.

Parallels in History

If we scrutinize Modern Day America and her history, we will see pictures and images that are not related to the patterns of ancient history. However, if we back off and take a glance at how those pieces fit together, we will get a larger picture.

This article will not go over every detail or event recorded in the Bible from Isaac to Moses. It will not go over every detail and nuance of American history. It will hit on a few keys that look similar when simplified by a view from a distance.

In Ancient Times

Isaac grew enough to enter the Covenant his Father had received from God.

158 years later, after being treated unjustly by his brethren, Joseph passed a turning point in his life. He still struggled after that, but eventually worked through it and rose to power in the nation where he now dwelled.

22 years later, Jacob/Israel shifted the entire family into a land where their leaders would be selected in a way the people had never experienced.

1-2 generations later, the people were enslaved.

320 years after the original event, a lot of boys drowned in the Nile River.

In Modern Times

A group of people grafted in to Abraham's seed entered into covenant before God, calling it the Mayflower Compact.

158 years later, after being treated unjustly by their brethren in England, the people passed a turning point in the life of their society, the spring after the Battle of Saratoga. They still struggled after that, fighting out the rest of the Revolutionary War, but eventually worked through it and rose to power in their new nation.

22 years later, the nation shifted the selection of their leaders in a way the people had never experienced. Up to that point, their presidents were whichever candidate received the most votes. The man who came in second became the Vice President. After this point, the Vice President always ran on a platform with the President. Never again have we had such liberty in the selection of our national leaders.

1-2 generations later, the Federal Reserve Act was passed. This created a system of debt through the banks for our economy and our people. The Bible says the borrower is servant to the lender (Proverbs 22:7). Whether we recognize it or not, by participating in this debt system, we have been enslaved.

320 years after the Mayflower Compact, we struggled to stay out of WWII. A lot of ships in 1940 were merely detained with no deaths. The City of Rayville and the Charles Pratt were mined and torpedoed, in that order. Very few lost their lives, but the deaths had begun. In 1941 you can go down the list and start adding up the numbers of our boys who lost their lives until you start getting to the ships sunk that have and unknown number of deaths attached to them. And all this was before the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Ecclesiastes 1:9-10

The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. Is there any thing where of it may be said, See, this it new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.
